Behind the Scenes: Finishing Fall/Winter 2012!

Your FMS team is coming down to the wire on the Fall/Winter issue!

This week is the final push before sending everything to the publisher!

Here is Ki's fab assistant, Vanessa Britting, checking details, making a list, and checking it twice!

(Yes, they are working at Ki's kitchen table, sans benefit of credenza! They sure could use one, though!)

Here's a bit of what Ki, Stacey and Christine are thinking as they bear down on the final details:

Ki:

"Man, I hate proofing How-to's!"

"Is taxidermied a real word?"

"I want to live in that house!"

"It's all about the cover. I et ill thinking we have to choose among so many great options."

"I can't believe we only have a few more days to finish up. Yikes!"

"Man, I hate checking Resources!"

"Could I just move on to the next issue while you guys finish up?"

"It's all about the cover blurbs. Mine never seem to make the cut!"

and, one final musing:

"I know it's coming...the final day. Stacey and Christine give me an absolute cut-off time and I seem to always be pushing the clock. Stacey usually starts the countdown an hour or so out. I start to sweat hoping I can finish my comments in time. What if I called a hen nester a chicken coop? Readers are sure to catch my mistake. The final day is worse than getting my driver's license renewed. I am sweating just thinking about it!"

Stacey:

"Right now, I feel like the ping pong ball in a ping pong game. :) I am working on too many files at once and reacting to what I need to do to each...only to be distracted by another layout that I realized I needed to tweak and then distracted by another layout that I need to tweak. This is not a good thing. I'll be taking some time today to organize my FMS production "to do" list! :)"

Christine:

"The closing of this issue seems to be crazier than usual -- perhaps that's because while we're finishing up the fall issue we're also scouting and picking locations for the Spring/Summer 2013 issue and for our brand-new Weddings issue. Whew! But it's a good crazy. Our team is definitely in a groove, which is nice. As soon as we send the pages off to the publisher, I need to start looking for flights to Junk Bonanza in September. Stacey and I will be there doing some photo shoots. And shopping, of course! But for right now, I'm sitting in my office with my dictionary on my lap proofreading pages. Oh, there are some pretty stories for fall!"
