One Party Story...and More to Come!

Flea Market Style is thankful for its friends!

One of them, Rosie, sent us these fab pictures of the Thankful for Friends party she and her pal, Rosella, put together last October. We thought you'd enjoy the pictures, and hope they whet your appetite for the new issue of FMS!

It's due out in about three weeks or so, and has not one but two fabulous entertaining features, packed with fun photography and great how-to info for your own wonderful gatherings!

For their party, the two Rs kept their fingers crossed for good weather (they are in Canada, after all)!

The bird cage held lavendar-scented sachets as party favors for the guests!

They were rewarded with a gorgeous fall day!

Rosella sewed the burlap flag-and-rosette banner to decorate Rosie's back yard...

... and Rosie's husband built a table from an old barn door! They draped quilts over old benches to make the seating more comfortable.

The two Rs combed flea markets and thrift stores for pieces to use for their party, all in a palette of red, yellow and cream...

... and used farmers' market flowers along with berries and branches from Rosie's yard to help decorate. Milk was served in antique half-pint jars, and guests feasted on food from pecan tartlets to apple pies and pumpkin tarts!

The party was also staged with a welcome area and photo booth.

The pair's friend, Bethy, shot the photos, and guests could recline on the crusty iron day bed replete with pillows and quilts!

You can read more about Rosie and Rosella at their blogs here and here, and see lots more details and photos from the party

And watch for the latest Flea Market Style, coming in about three weeks or so, for more great ideas on fall entertaining!

"They are in Canada, after all?"
As in, hoping there won't be snow in the middle of summer? Wow!
You should have featured an igloo story...that would be sooo much more fitting for something coming out of Canada. I'm Canadian: hold on a sec and I'll go shoot one now. It's late July, after all!!

Signed,
Meredith, shedder of light that Canada is not that different from the U.S. (or maybe we are ;)!!)

I just discovered your lovely blog and have signed up as a follower. I've just put the finished touches on my new blog ‘Coastal Style’ It will have lots of inspiration on beach houses, resortwear, summer food, travel and anything ‘beachy’. I had a lot of fun putting it together so maybe you would like to check it out if you have a spare minute.

OMG...I read the magazine and 3 hours later I still wanted to read more. Loved it! I needed some inspiration for changing the decor in my home from so-so to cottage/flea market sheek. Now I can't wait to go to the Junk Bonanza. Last year was my 1st year. This year my family and girlfriends will attend with me. Great fun!!!
