You can't have a flea market magazine without a flea market guide listing the best antique shows and fleas in the country! The Flea Market Style team has chosen their favorite events to highlight in the magazine, now it is your chance to let us know yours. We'd like to stick to fleas and shows that offer at least 50 vendors. Let us know the flea or show's name, city and state (or province, if in Canada), and why you love to shop it. Also, we would appreciate its website address or phone number - if you have one on hand - so we can check it out for consideration. Watch to see if your favorite makes it into the magazine!
Thanks for your help on this!

Oh my gosh...I know you know this one, Ki...but here is some info anyway. The Kane County Flea Market in St. Charles, IL. I am a vendor there April - Oct, but it is open year round. Their website is kanecountyfleamarket.com. Street address and phone: Kane County Fairgrounds 525 S. Randall Road St. Chales, IL 60174. (630) 377-2252. It really is a must see for the Midwest. So worth the trip! I am looking forward to seeing the list. Its never to early to plan summer trips! ~mary~ vintagehomeandgarden.blogspot.com
I love the D.C. Big Flea. Its held at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly VA several times/year. There are hundreds of vendors there. They were in town this past weekend and the next one is in January.

Does Flea Market Style do Europe too? If so, then my top choice goes to the twice annual Foire Nationale à la Brocante et aux Jambons in the Parisian suburb of L'isle de Chatou is a Must! Your high school French isn't leading your astray - indeed, this is the National Fair of the Flea Market and Ham and it's held twice a year, with the next event coming up just in time for your magazine launch - Fair dates run: March 12 - 21, 2010 (and again in Oct 2010).

For more info in English, you can read about it on my blog http://antiquesdiva.blogspot.com/2008/09/expatica-bringing-home-bacon-antiques.html
While we're in Paris, of course, we must mention the pièce de résistance Le Puce de Paris held every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday in the northern-most suburb of St.Ouen. http://www.parispuces.com/en/historique/Default.htm
But the lesser known Porte de Vanves brocante also packs a powerful punch! Saturday and Sunday year round!

While Paris is always sensational for better prices its best to head north to Holland Belgium. I think my favorite weekly flea market in Europe takes place every Thursday and Saturday April - September in The Hague nearby Holland palatial past on the beautiful tree-lined square called the Lange Voorhout!

Another crème de le crème European flea market, happens to be Brussels Place de Grand Sablon held every weekend rain or shine.

You can also watch me in an Ireport video sharing Brussels flea market details on this rocking brocante! http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-104121
While Brussels' Place de Grand Sablon flea market is pure class, Brussels offers another flea market in town that might be a tad heavier on the fleas, but is packed the brim with Belgian bargains. Visit daily http://www.marcheauxpuces.org/index_uk.html
From Brussels, a side trip to Tongeren is an antiquers dream! Every Sunday from 6am - 1pm, year round, the largest flea market in Europe takes over the town!

Oh, dear me, I could go on forever!!! I love the Fleas and this my dears is just the tip of the iceberg! Do let me know if you'd like more European antique shopping and flea market tips and I'd delighted to share more details!!!

I'm sure you must already know about this one, but living in an area where everyone raves about the Rose Bowl flea market, I actually prefer the one at Long Beach's Veterans Stadium. http://www.longbeachantiquemarket.com/
Maybe because I grew up near it so it I have a sentimental attachment, but also because it's easier to navigigate than the ginormous Rose Bowl yet still has a decent 800 or so vendors. I ALWAYS find something (make that lots of somethings) I want and don't get overwhelmed unless I make the mistake of going in August when it's 200 degrees on the pavement! They have great parking and some (many?) of the vendors have been the same for years and years. I live about 30 minutes from the Rose Bowl now, but I'll still opt to drive the 50-60 minutes to Long Beach several times a year.
Well, since I saw for myself this fall, Round Top/Warrenton in Texas must be the best! All we have near Montreal is Finnegan's Flea Market in Hudson (named after owner's dog), but it's worth mentioning nonetheless.
Junk Bonanza, of course! And the Farm Chicks Antiques Show. When I lived in Chicago, I loved to go to the Sandwich Flea Market and Kane County Flea Market. Hi Ki!

You just have to check out First Monday in Ripley, MS! Oh gosh, how I love it there. You can find anything there...plants, rusty old stuff, wooden stuff, already made crafty stuff, furniture, pigs, dogs, food, tools, clothing, a huge place full of nothing but hardware! I love First Monday. The largest in Mississippi, one of the oldest in the US, 50 ACRES of flea market wonderfulness! Lots of places to eat, too. Unfortunately, I'm in Illinois for a little while & can't go whenever I want to & I miss it badly. You'll love it! Here's a link...http://www.firstmonday.ripley.ms/about.html...you won't be disappointed. :)
I love the Kane County Flea Market in St. Charles, IL
The website is:
kanecountyfleamarket.com
It's a really big flea market and well known
Shipshewana Flea Market is hugemongous....in the middle of nowhere, but packed during their short season. http://www.tradingplaceamerica.com/index.php
Somebody has to say Brimfield, which is the best fun ever and in Canada the oldest and best picker's market is Aberfoyle Antique Market www.aberfoyle-antiques.com with so many incredible good buys every Sunday April - October. Dianne
I love going to Rennigers Flea Market Extravaganza in Mt. Dora Florida. A bunch of us girls get together and shop to our hearts content! Lots of rolling hills, 1000+ vendors.. and yes there are hills in Florida..lol. The next big show is coming up Nov. 20, 21 and 22! See ya there...

I'll second Jill's comment above and say The Farm Chicks in Spokane, Washington is far and away the best flea market-style show I've been to as a shopper and also sold at as a dealer.
Go to www.TheFarmChicks.com (web) and http://thefarmchicks.typepad.com/ (blog) for more info about this 125-plus dealer show. It's always held the first weekend of June at the Spokane Fairgrounds with AMAZING people, wonderful treasures, and a party that lasts two full days and nights!

1st Monday Trade Days, Canton, Texas is the best market I've ever been to.
I love the Old South Flea Market on Hwy. 106 outside of Batesville, Arkansas. Prices are reasonable and there is a vast array of collectibles, antiques, etc. It's open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Phone number is 870-793-7508.
I have several flea's I visit whenever possible. My favorite is: Armada Flea Market in Armada, MI. It's open every Tuesday and Sunday April to October. For me I go for the "junk" and there's lots of it there. JH and I get up early Sunday's and drive about an hour to arrive just as most vendor's are still setting up. This is a place the creative juices can flow freely.
My second best is the Utica Antique Market. This is a show that is only 3 times a year--Mother's Day weekend, July and September. The website is: uticaantiques.com The show has alot of antiques but has "junk" also.
Thanks for asking. LuAnn
I would have to vote for the What Cheer, Iowa flea market. I know you know of this one and have been many times... but others in the midwest shouldn't miss this one! 2010 dates are May 1st and 2nd, August 7th and 8th and Oct 2nd and 3rd. There is also early birds on Friday all 3 weekend.... www.whatcheerfleamarket.com
Some of you probably already know there are great places to shop at in Texas. You can literally attend a show or shop at a flea market every month or several times a month:
1. I know you already know about the Canton Texas Flea Market, Hwy 19, Canton Tx, but here's their website: http://www.firstmondaycanton.com/
2. Zapp Hall Antique Show is located in downtown Warrenton Texas, their site: http://zapphall.com/
3. City Wide Garage Sale is a monthly antique show in Austin Texas. They are located at the Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road, Austin, Texas 78704 or you can reach them at their site: http://cwgs.com/
4. The Red Barn Antique Show is located at Hwy 237, Round Top Texas. You can contact Susan at http://www.roundtoptexasantiques.com/
5. The Urban Market is a one day show, three times a year, and offers a wide mix of antiques and vendors. Their site is: http://www.theurbanmarkethouston.com/
Each of these places offers a unique shopping experience and none of them can be compared to the other. If you are looking for unique items it can be found at them all.
We've been hosting an annual flea market for just a few short years, but every year we grow in vendor numbers and foot traffic! We're 4 small-town junk lovers, holding an annual "Junk Fest" and flea market in Carrington, ND, usually the third weekend of September. Check out our blog for pics and a slide show of previous sales. www.junk-fest.blogspot.com
We have one here in Nashville TN. I have been going about every other month for about a year now and find something new every time! I love it! It's held at the Nashville Fair grounds and takes up a big portion of the area. The website is

Hi Ki, one of my favorities is the The Groves at Irvine Valley College in Irvine, CA - So. Orange County. Many quality dealers and you can get through it in a couple hours if you need to. It takes place monthly, the first Sunday. Erin
Here in the metro-Denver area we have A Paris Street Market - www.aparisstreetmarket.com. It is an outdoor "junk market" that runs May through Oct. Great place to promo your new magazine. It is THE junk flea market to be at in this area!!! I'd love to take you on a tour next time your in the area...
